Hyderabad: The 3rd day of races in the YAI 3rd Secunderabad Club Youth Regatta saw milder weather conditions and tactical sailing from the young participants on Friday.
The winds have been shifty and unusually light for this time of the year and the youngsters had to dig deep into their training to sail well and come on top.
G Mallesh of NBSC Goa finished 2nd in 2 races and 6th in the 3rd race to take the overall gold price at the end of 10 races.
In the 29er class, Nikhi and Akash of NBSC Goa lead the class.
In the 420 class, there is now tough competition among the Yacht Club Hyderabad sailor / Navy boys Sports duo of Laveti and Mallesh and Secunderabad Club sailor Alekhya and Akhil with only one point separating them.
There will be changes in the leaderboard scoring due to protests and redressal requests which can be accepted by the regatta judges.
The six-day Regatta will be closed tomorrow. A closing ceremony will be held at 4 pm on Saturday. Maj Gen Ajay Sharma
Deputy Commandant and Chief Instructor MACEME will be the chief guest for the closing ceremony
